It’s happening

After a long series of negotiations and business arrangements, Chris Marrow, has finally made it happen. At first, from sometime in 2010 there will be a passenger ferry to Wales. Hopefully this will be successful enough to become a vehicle ferry before too long.

I like to think that the information, survey responses and comments that poured in to this website were in some part helpful. Maybe I’ll even get a free ticket out of it...you never know. Free or not, I hope to be on the first sailing to Wales.

With the launch of the Severn Link FlyingCat ferry, the beautiful and historic shores of North Devon and South Wales will now be a short and stress free 50 minute journey.

The Severn Link service is a bold new step to reconnect the communities, heritage, and people of Wales, Devon, Somerset and Cornwall, making them accessible to holidaymakers, families, and businesses on both sides of the Bristol Channel.

“The announcement of the forthcoming Swansea-Ilfracombe ferry service by Severn Link, announced yesterday to the press, has made a huge impact across the South West of England and South Wales - appearing on ITV and BBC TV News in both areas throughout the day.

“The news also was also broadcast on many regional radio stations and in major regional newspapers, meaning that Severn Link was on everyone?s lips - even Terry Wogan was talking about it on his prime time Radio 2 show!

“The fantastic reception to the ferry announcement by the media - plus the overwhelmingly positive reception Severn Link has received from potential travellers welcoming the service - has shown just how much difference the ferry link will make to people living in, travelling to and working within South Wales and South West England.”
